Celebrate Women’s Herstory Month with Rev Junia Joplin

Transgender Day of Visibility

For as long as she can remember, Reverend Junia Joplin (she/her) has been listening to two callings - a calling to vocational ministry, and a calling to embrace her womanhood. After spending decades following one calling while repressing the other, Junia finally came out as a trans woman in a Sunday morning sermon in June, 2020. Her suburban Toronto congregation fired her a few weeks later; that's when her story began attracting worldwide media coverage. Junia has worked to use her platform to inspire other trans people and to make faith communities more inclusive . Acclaimed as an stirring preacher, Junia has been recognized as one of Canada's top Women of Influence. She currently serves as an Associate Pastor at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.
