Rev. Kevin W. VanHook, II, is a dynamic preacher, avid reader, and community activist called by God to proclaim spiritual truth, advance justice, and promote the economic empowerment of underserved communities. An energetic servant-leader deeply committed to pursuing holistic approaches to spiritual and social transformation, Rev. VanHook currently serves as the Executive Director of Episcopal Charities of New York (ECNY) where he oversees a community of one hundred transformative outreach programs that serve over 1 million New Yorkers each year. Prior to leading ECNY, Rev. VanHook served as the Minister of Justice, Advocacy, and Change at the historic Riverside Church in the City of New York, leading the church’s twenty-two active ministry initiatives by designing innovative programs focused on pursuing justice through providing holistic ministry. Originally from Waco, Texas, Rev. VanHook is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, the University of Denver, and Princeton Theological Seminary, where he was distinguished as one of the most gifted preachers in his graduating class as the recipient of the Kenyon J. Wildrick Award for Excellence in Homiletics. Rev. VanHook is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from Pepperdine University where his research focuses on the intersection of faith, justice, and social transformation. Rev. VanHook makes his home in New Jersey with his wife, Vicki, and their two children, Olivia and Cooper.
