AN UPDATE FROM THE FWCC BOARD
What’s up Fort Washington Family,
We want to take a moment to share a difficult update following last night’s vote by the full consistory. With the heaviest of hearts, we must let you know that the decision was made to close our church, our spiritual home and community anchor.
We know how deeply painful and disappointing this news is. As your board, we are grieving right alongside you. This church has been a place of love, healing, faith, and belonging for so many, and we understand the heartache this brings to our Fort Washington family and neighborhood.
In the days ahead, we ask for your grace and compassion, not only for each other, but also for your board, as we mourn and begin navigating this next chapter together. Please know that our commitment to you remains strong. We will continue to move forward together, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
Today, we invite you to P.A.U.S.E. (pause action until serenity ensues) with us. Take a breath. Allow space for whatever emotions rise. We don’t have to rush. We’ll walk this road together, with faith, love, and hope guiding us.
Please note, worship services continue every Sunday through June 30, 2025. We look forward to seeing you for Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter, etc. We also plan to have some special activities in the remaining months for church and community to come together, celebrate, heal and hold space.
Thank you for your unwavering support and love. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.
This is the way,
The Fort Washington Church Board
